Our Stand Down

As you are reading this, organizations and volunteers are hard at work, planning the 11th annual Five Seasons Stand Down and Resource Fair for the homeless and near-homeless. The date for the 2016 event is Friday, September 9, 2016 .

Linn County Veteran Affairs, in partnership with the Cedar Rapids Metro Area Veterans Council, the Iowa City VA Medical Center, and the Linn County Continuum of Care will hold the 11th Annual Five Seasons Stand Down at Veterans Memorial Stadium, 950 Rockford Rd. SW in Cedar Rapids from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Five Seasons Stand Down and Resource Fair helps people who are homeless or near-homeless transition to community living by providing access to human service agencies, including benefits counseling (Social Security and Veterans), employment and training assistance, eye exams, health care screenings, housing services, legal assistance, behavioral health treatment and substance abuse counseling. In addition, Great Clips will be providing haircuts to interested participants. There will be approximately 70 service agencies participating in the 2016 event. A list of classes offered to Stand Down attendees will be posted closer to the pre-registration date later in the summer.

There is no cost to attend the Stand Down, but participants should pre-register at one of the following locations:

The list of pre-registration sites may also be accessed by phoning the Linn County Veteran Affairs Office — (319) 892-5160. Pre-registration allows organizers to better anticipate the needs of participants and is strongly encouraged.

Five Seasons Stand Down is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, the Linn County Board of Supervisors Witwer Trust and by community and corporate donations.
